2022-23 Season
Houston Stars looks to expand to the Katy area under the direction of Preston Smith. Coach Smith has a long history in the Houston area training the top talent and helping countless players both improve in their ability and play volleyball at the next level. The first season saw two teams compete in the Katy area, 18 Adidas and 16 White. These teams both had solid seasons. The 18 Adidas team medaled in 3 national qualifiers, winning gold at the Northeast Qualifier. They wrapped up the season with an impressive Bronze medal at the AAU National Championships in Orlando, FL.
This season we signed all 8 Seniors who wanted to continue their playing career at the next level. This gave Katy Stars the momentum they needed to push into the next season with a wave of new coaches and athletes.
2023-24 Season
Building on the momentum from a great first season, Katy Stars held their first official try-out. We saw over 100 athletes show up to tryouts and brought in 10 new coaches to help us form 7 teams from 13s through 18s.
All our teams had great success this season with many teams winning and/or medaling at tournaments throughout the years. 18 Elite continued their 2 year streak of medaling in every national qualifier they attended (6 medals, 2 Gold finishes). Katy Stars has continued to progress with Elite training, consistency and a family atmosphere. We look forward to a great future!

2024-2025
Katy Stars wrapped up its third year with 14 teams and a new home—our own facility at the Katy Sports Complex on Franz Rd. We expanded player pathways with new Developmental sessions and a Rising Stars program for aspiring 10–11-year-olds. Rooted in our 2024–2025 motto, “Faith & Vibe,” we wove multiple faith moments into the season and doubled down on a family-friendly culture. On the court, every team notched strong results, with many winning or medaling across the year. Our 18 Elite medaled at two National Qualifiers, bringing the program to eight qualifier medals in just three seasons. Thank you to our athletes, families, and coaches for an incredible year!
